STRATOVARIUS Keyboardist To Play On Next SONATA ARCTICA Album
September 5, 2002STRATOVARIUS keyboardist Jens Johansson (ex-DIO) has agreed to play on SONATA ARCTICA's next studio CD if the group don't find a replacement for the recently-departed Mikko Harkin in time for the upcoming album's recording sessions.
"I really love [SONATA ARCTICA] the way they were," Jens stated in a post on the official STRATOVARIUS message board. "I did everything I could (personally) to try to prevent Mikko from actually taking this step! But he seems to have very strong feelings about what he wants to do in life and music — these things happen. 'In the world of rock'n'roll, there are certain.... changes.' I guess the good news is that there's a vacant spot in a GREAT band for some new young keyboard hero! We need more of those..
"By the way, I spoke to [SONATA ARCTICA lead singer/mastermind] Mr. [Tony] Kakko, and if they don't find anyone suitable before [the new album] has to be mixed, I have agreed to do the key solos on their forthcoming record.. I mean if the need should arise. (I would be honored but also a little sad if you know what I mean)."
